Real Life Foundations: September Group Class
Oroville, California

Dates: September 12, September 19, September 26, and October 10
Time: Saturdays at 7:00 AM
Duration: 4 Weeks

This 4-week group series is designed for dogs and owners who want skills that actually carry over into everyday life. Maybe your dog pulls you down the sidewalk, thinks every person and dog is their business, checks out the second you leave the house, or seems to have selective hearing in public. The goal is not simply to teach commands. The goal is to help owners better understand the dog in front of them while creating calmer, more functional dogs in real-world situations.

Throughout this series we’ll build practical skills week by week, focusing on better communication, engagement, leash handling, structured movement, neutrality around distractions, and helping dogs learn how to exist in the world without feeling like they need to manage everything around them. Each class builds naturally into the next so you leave with skills you can continue using long after the course ends.

What you will learn:

Week 1: "Hello? Earth to Dog?"

Does your dog seem tuned into absolutely everything except you? Squirrels, smells, another dog breathing three aisles over, a leaf blowing through the parking lot... but somehow not you? This week is all about creating better communication and helping your dog learn that checking in with you actually pays off. We'll build engagement, focus, and structure so you stop feeling like you're competing with the entire world.

Week 2: "Walks Shouldn't Feel Like Water Skiing"

If your walks currently involve being dragged, zig-zagged, wrapped around trees, or questioning who exactly is walking who, we've got you covered. This week focuses on leash skills, structured movement, and helping your dog learn how to move with you instead of towing you through the neighborhood.

Week 3: "Can You Please Mind Your Own Business?"

Does your dog feel personally responsible for every dog, person, stroller, squirrel, and suspicious-looking bush they see? This week is all about helping dogs learn how to exist around distractions without believing they need to insert themselves into every situation. We'll work on neutrality, advocacy, and building calmer decision-making.

Week 4: "Pick Your Adventure Field Trip"

Time to take the training wheels off. This week we leave the classroom and put everything together in the real world. Depending on the group, we'll choose our adventure and work through practical situations you may actually face in daily life. Think Home Depot, parks, outdoor spaces, public environments, or wherever makes the most sense for the team. Real life, real coaching, and plenty of troubleshooting along the way.

This is not a dog socialization class or a chaotic free-for-all environment. Our goal is to create better communication, better understanding, and more confidence for both dogs and owners.

All equipment and training tools are welcome. Training should fit the individual dog and handler team. If you have questions regarding equipment, I’m happy to help guide you.
