Puppy Kindergarten Board & Train Retreat

Bringing home a puppy is exciting. The biting, potty accidents, leash chaos, sleepless nights and constant supervision? Slightly less magical. That’s where Puppy Kindergarten comes in.

Our 3-week Puppy Board & Train Retreat gives your puppy a strong foundation for real life. We work on basic obedience, leash skills, crate training, household manners, confidence, settling around distractions and learning how to make better choices in the real world.

This isn’t about creating a perfectly programmed puppy. It’s about building the skills, habits and communication you’ll need to actually enjoy life together. You’ll receive regular updates throughout training, personalized owner coaching at go-home and lifetime support as your puppy grows.

  • "For the Love of Dog has been a game changer for me and my dogs. I am so happy I sent Rocko and Jojo to Tiffany's board and train program. One of my dogs is incredibly leash reactive while the other one struggled with being nervous and lacking confidence. Tiffany addressed each dog's needs and behaviors and individualized their training based on that. I got daily updates via texts, pictures, and videos about both of my dogs. Tiffany would include what they had been working on that day and how to implement that at home. Tiffany focuses on the mental state of the dogs she works with to understand why they're acting the way they do. Even now that both of my dogs have been home for almost two months, Tiffany is still there to support me and answer any questions I have about different situations that arise. She happily troubleshoots whatever is going on and is always so quick to respond. I highly recommend this program because it's unique that the dogs are worked with in a real life style rather than the typical boarding facility.   • "Our dog completed a board and train and we were completely astounded. We followed Tiffany for a few months on social media before a consultation to watch and get a sense we’d align. She did a great job with our pup AND us. We went in prepared to change as people in addition to the change for our dog and Tiffany guided all of us. I loved the updates along the way and our dog will be going back this summer for a stay and play while we are on vacation. Can’t recommend enough especially when you need a trainer that understand reactive or easily triggered dogs. EDIT: Adding more to my review now that Dolores has returned from her time with Tiffany. We were so fortunate to have completed a board and train with Tiffany so we could take advantage of additional offerings. Other boarding was instigating some of our pup’s old behaviors. We didn’t want to back pedal or give our dog a bad name since her breed often gets a bad rap. During her week stay we received updates and Dolores returned as a happy doggo with a little tune up. I say over and over again going with FTLOD was one of the best decisions we made as a family."

Helpful answers to common questions:

  • We are balanced trainers using all four quadrants of operant conditioning in our training and approach each family with an individualized curriculum keeping their goals in mind.

  • Unlike a training facility or boarding kennel, your dog will sleep safe and soundly in the comfort of our home!

  • Dogs actually have not changed much. We as humans have increased our expectations, asking our dogs to be a more integrated part of our lives. Due to that we continue to further our education in not just training dogs but how to coach humans to communicate effectively with their best friends.

  • Consider how busy you are. Do you have time to work with your dog? No matter which option you choose, you must have availability in your schedule to meet your dog halfway.

  • The most important part of this process is that you feel confident to incorporate a new routine. Depending on the program, I’ll meet with you for a follow-up lesson, a comprehensive manual, and clear instructions on how to keep your dog accountable.

  • Yes! We are small enough to accommodate unique meals such as raw diets and other specialized eating requirements.
